As you’ll see from the blog, so many of the stories and so much of my work is about linking place, people, function and the natural world……. Hence the series of projects working to:
- source clay and glaze materials from specific landscapes (Clee Hill in Shropshire, Soil Hill in West Yorkshire, Devil’s Water valley in Northumberland etc.), whilst also capturing some of the distinct qualities of those landscapes, for example, through photography
- get to know local bakeries – and individual bakers, to discover the bakers’ favourite baking bowls – in whatever form these may be…..
- the development of my own creative practice – exploring the making of forms that echo traditional shapes and designs, that balance the demands of function and beauty – and which which bring out the qualities of the materials I have gathered and prepared by hand.
